Our IGP Solid Metal Gaskets are the go-to choice for applications where the combination of high temperatures and pressures rules out the use of traditional gasket materials. These gaskets require substantial compression loads to deform and create a secure seal, and the metal used for the gasket must be softer than the metals found in the mating surfaces.

Solid metal flat gaskets find their application in scenarios where soft-material or metal/soft-material gaskets are not particularly suitable due to the medium, temperature, pressure, or permissible leakage rate. These gaskets have proven their reliability across a wide temperature spectrum, from as low as -200 °C to as high as over 600 °C, and at pressures ranging from relatively low to extremely high.

The thickness of the seal and the sealing material primarily depend on the flange surface and the operational conditions. Smoother and more even flange surfaces allow for thinner gaskets, such as 0.5 – 1 mm for use in spinning nozzle fittings, or 2 – 3 mm for aluminum gaskets in heat exchangers. It's important to note that soft metals like aluminum or silver deform with relatively low surface pressures, whereas harder materials, particularly steel, require higher sealing pressures.
