The VALQUA floating ball blankets provide highly effective solutions
to difficult liquid storage problems throughout the Processing,
Petrochemical and Metal Treatment industries.
By placing a sufficient quantity of hollow plastic balls onto the
surface of a liquid, the balls automatically arrange themselves
into a close packed formation over 91% of the surface area. Such
a high surface coverage provides an extremely effective barrier
and significantly reduces the mass and heat transfer mechanisms
operating between the liquid and surrounding environment.

TYPICAL
APPLICATION IN :
|
 |
DM
WATER STORAGE TANK FOR PREVENTING CONTAMINATION |
 |
LARGE WATER PONDS TO MINIMISE EVAPORATION LOSS |
 |
ACID STORAGE TANK TO REDUCE FUMES |
 |
SEWERAGE TANKS TO REDUCE ODOUR |
 |
COOLED
LIQUIDS FOR MINIMISING COLD LOSS |
ADVANTAGES:
|
 |
The inexpensive Plastic Balls can reduce heat loss up to 75% depending
upon the fluid temperature thus Saves energy.
For example, you will stand to lose 12000 watts/m2 of heat if you
have boiling water at 930C in 40% relative Humidity, from the uncovered
surface of water. |
 |
Reduction of liquid loss through evaporation by up to 90%. |
 |
Reduced chemical consumption. |
 |
Improved working environments. |
 |
A reduction in corrosive vapour ensures increased life expectancy
of building structures. |
 |
Reduced demand on air extract systems, saving factory heating and
reducing gas scrubber demands. |
 |
Dramatically
reduces foul odours reaching the atmosphere. |
 |
Allows movement of equipment through the liquid. |
 |
Reduces penetration of Ultra Violet rays, precluding growth of algae
and clogging weeds. |
 |
The
rate of ice formation is reduced in freezing conditions, lowering
the ice formation point by up to 10C. |
 |
The balls spread automatically as the liquid levels rise and fall.
|
 |
Reduced heat loss helps to maintain biological reactions during cold
weather. |
 |
Quick and simple to install. |
 |
Immediate solution to odour problems. |
 |
Virtually maintenance free. |
A
COMMON PROBLEM AND ITS SOLUTION :
STORED DEMINERALISED WATER; DISSOLUTION OF CO2 & OTHER ACIDIC
GASES QUALITY DEPRESSION
|
There is a very common but genuine complaint that the quality
of stored Demineralised water is affected by way of dissolution
of CO2 and other acidic gases like SO2 & SO3, as the air
enters into the tank through air vent and over flow line.
Atmospheric air around an industrial complex is polluted,
with CO2 SO2 SO3 and sometimes acidic fumes of HCl H2SO4
from the respective acid storage tanks, in a highly pronounced
way in comparison to air column away from industrial complexes.
Quality deteriorated demineralised water causes lot of corrosion
problems to vital industrial components, upset water chemistry
conditions in the system, usage of alkaline volatile chemicals
incurring more expenses and health hazards to personnel working
around. Floating of Polypropylene balls of various sizes to
cover the entire top layer of the stored water in the tank
would act as a blanket to minimize to a very great extent
exposure of top water surface to the atmospheric air. |
